General Studio Policies
Class AttendanceIn dance, it is very important for all students to attend class. Choreography is affected with just one missing student. Attendance will be taken in each class daily. Students will be expected to be at 80% of classes – each student may have up to seven absences in a class. Students should never have more than 2 consecutive absences without the prior approval of the instructor. Please call the studio if your child cannot attend a class. No tuition refunds can be given on missed classes.
TuitionTuition may be paid in full or on a payment schedule. Tuition is pro-rated and is based on 32 weeks of dance instruction.
Tuition is due on the 1st of the month. Statements will be sent via email to the parent email listed in the parent portal of Dance Studio Pro. A late fee of $15.00 will be charged if tuition is paid after the 10th of the month. If tuition is 60 days overdue, the student will not be allowed to dance until the balance is paid in full.
Payments may be made online using the parent portal (debit/credit card or ACH) or at the front desk (check, cash, money order or debit/credit card). A service fee will be generated for debit/credit card or ACH payments. Receipts will be given upon request. Please include the student’s name on the check memo line.
Tuition refunds are not given. There will be a $25.00 charge on all NSF checks.
Automatic PaymentsAutomatic payment may be set up via the parent portal of Dance Studio Pro. Payments may be routinely charged to a debit/credit card or paid through ACH.
Tuition Installment Schedules10-Installment PlanTuition may be pro-rated over ten installments. The first and last installment is due at registration. The remaining installments are made on a monthly basis. The amount paid is the same each month no matter the number of lessons in a month.
1-Installment PlanAnnual tuition may be paid in September for the entire dance season. This plan allows 5% discount off the 10-Payment plan. Parents who would like to choose this option, may email the studio to ask for a tuition adjustment for an 1-installment plan.
Family Dance DiscountsThe first child (the one who takes the most classes) pays full tuition. The second child in the family receives a 8% discount on tuition. All subsequent childfren in the family will receive a 5% discount on tuition. Discounts are only given on regular tuition. No discounts on costumes, wigs, shoes, workshops, private lessons, additional competition practices, etc.
Registration FeeThe individual student registration fee is $25.00 and will be capped at $50.00 per family. Withdrawing A StudentAny student withdrawing from dance will need to give a two-week electronic notice via the parent portal of Dance Studio Pro. You will be charged up to that point. Proper notice will inactivate your account.
Studio RightsThe studio reserves the right to drop students from enrollment for disruptive behavior, non-payment of tuition, or extreme disregard for studio policies.
Communication PolicyThroughout the dance year, there will be several important dates, activities and information. Handouts will be placed in student mail folders located at the front desk or notices will be sent through the parent portal of Dance Studio Pro. At times, reminder information will be sent via email if the student has an email address on file. It is the parents’ and dancers’ responsibility to check regularly for notices and updates. Please inform the studio of any address, phone or email changes throughout the year.
Notices may be on the Fusion Dance website, Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram. Important notes will also be posted in the studio. Dance questions may be brought to the front desk staff. You may also contact at 651-385-9389, emailing info@fusiondancemn.com or messaging the Fusion Dance Facebook page.
FundraisingFusion offers fundraising opportunities for families who are interested – it is not a required activity. Money earned from fundraising is applied directly to dancers’ individual accounts.
PicturesProfessional pictures will be scheduled in the spring. Group and individual photos will be taken. No classes are scheduled during pictures and you may need to come at a time other than your weekly lesson. While all students must be in their class picture, there is no obligation to purchase pictures. Watch for more information in the spring.
Annual PerformanceThe Annual Performance will tentatively be Saturday, June 7. There will be two shows. Dress rehearsal will be Thursday, June 5. The following is performance requirements: costumes, wigs, and tights as determined by the studio, specific shoes and stage make-up. Students must attend all classes during the two weeks prior to the show and must attend the performance dress rehearsal. All fees must be paid in full before students may participate in the Annual Performance.
CostumesDecisions to dance in the Annual Performance must be made by October 30, 2024. A down-payment of ½ the costume cost is due by October 30, 2024 with the remaining ½ balance due by November 30, 2024. Students will be measured for costumes in November and orders will be placed in December.
All costume and wig final payments must be made by November 30, 2024. No refunds will be made on costumes or wig payments after December 1. Orders are placed in December with costume vendors and supply companies; they are special order items which can not be refunded.
Studio staff determines all costume decisions. The studio reserves the right to make costume design changes. The price of costumes includes tights (pink and/or tan), hairpieces, props and minor costume alterations (such as hems, straps, and small seam allowances). If a costume needs a major alteration, it will be the student or parent’s responsibility to pay for a seamstress. Curly Wigs will be standard for Preschool and Grades K-1 combination classes. These curly wigs are a one-time purchase and will be used every year. The curly wigs must be purchased through Fusion Dance only, as we need all wigs to be uniform in style.
PracticeStudents are encouraged to practice at home. Just like music lessons, dance should be practiced throughout the week. Students can do individuals steps or combinations without music. As we near the Annual Performance, routine music will be available on the parent portal.
Dance Dress CodeIn order for students to fully participate in class and the learning experience, they should wear clothing that permits movement and allows instructors to easily view muscles and body lines making for easier corrections.
Boys may wear above-the-knee shorts and close fitting T-shirts. Girls may wear any color or style of leotards and tights, dance unitards, or close fitting tops & bottoms to all classes except technical ballet classes. No jeans or dresses should be worn to class. Hip-hop clothing should be more casual wear such as loose fitting tank tops or t-shirts and sweats because this is the style of the dance. No jewelry allowed in class.
Dress code in ballet classes must be pink ballet shoes, pink tights, black leotard, and hair in a bun with bobby pins and a hairnet for girls and black shorts with a black tank top for boys. Dress requirements are strictly enforced in ballet classes. Students not properly attired will be given one warning. The second time a teacher needs to remind a student of the dress code, the student may be asked to sit and watch class. No sweats or jazz pants after warm-up. No loose clothing.
Dance ShoesStudents are required to wear specific shoes to ensure safety and ease of motion. Girls wear pink ballet shoes, tan buckle tap (combination classes), tan jazz gore boots (combination classes, Musical Theatre and jazz technique) and black tie tap shoes in tap technique. Boys wear black shoes. Hip-Hop shoes must be clean tennis shoe for class; however, a style of uniform shoes will be selected for the Annual Performance.
Absolutely no street shoes are to be worn in the studio. Injuries may result from loose dirt or water from the bottom of dirty shoes.
Dance BagsStudents should have a dance bag that holds their shoes. Please label your dancer’s bag and label inside all of their dance shoes.
Drop Off/Pick UpAn adult should accompany young students when entering and leaving the building. Young dancers should wait in the lobby with their parent or guardian until the instructor and/or assistants come to the lobby to bring students back to the classroom. Young dancers should wait inside after class until a parent or guardian comes in to pick them up. Students should not be dropped off any more than 15 minutes prior to their class time and should not be picked up any later than 15 minutes after their class is over. Early drops-offs and late pick-ups of more than 15 minutes may lead to a childcare fee billed to your account.
HolidaysNo classes will be held on Fall Break (October 16 – 20), Halloween (October 31), Thanksgiving Break (November 27 – December 1), Winter Break (December 20 – January 1), Spring Break (March 14 – 23), Easter (April 18 – 20) and Memorial Day (May 23 - 26). Please make note of these dates on your calendar.
Inclement WeatherThe studio answering machine, the Fusion Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram will include a message on studio closings. Fusion Dance does not follow school district closures – if weather conditions change during the afternoon/evening, dance may or may not be held if school was closed or open during the day. Class tuition is based on 32 weeks of dance classes. Depending on the day of the week, classes are scheduled for 33-35 weeks. Classes cancelled for inclement weather will not be made up unless the number of classes goes below 32 weeks of lessons.
Parent/Teacher ConferencesYou may request to schedule a time to discuss your child’s progress and future dance plans. Teachers are very willing to make time to have a conference with you! Please schedule at the reception desk. Instructors cannot discuss your child’s progress between classes or the next class will start late. This is not fair to other students’ class time.
Do not call instructors, staff or owners on their home or cell phones or send emails to their personal accounts. All business should be transacted through the studio phone and email.
SubstitutesThe studio reserves the right to provide a substitute instructor if the regularly scheduled instructor is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes.
Video Taping and Flash PhotographyVideotaping and flash photography are prohibited during classes without instructor approval; however, they will be permitted during holiday parties and special events. Nonflash photography and videotaping is allowed during dress rehearsal. No videotaping is allowed during the Annual Performance. Video cameras are very distracting to students on stage and audience members. Performances will be professionally taped, and order forms will be available before and during the show. Flash photography will only be allowed at the Annual Performance during and after final bows.
Choreography belongs to the studio and the choreographer. Please do not post any video on social media or perform any routines in talent shows or other public performances without permission from both the studio and the choreographer of the routine.
Photo ReleaseThe studio is granted permission to take photos of students to use in brochures, studio website, advertisements or other promotional materials.
LiabilityParents must sign a contract with the studio with the understanding that dance is a physical activity and there is an element of physical risk involved. All students are required to be covered by their own insurance, and if an injury occurs, it is understood that the student and their family are responsible for any medical cost.
The Acknowledgement, Assumption of Risk, and Release and the Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 are available on the registration form. Students will not be able to dance unless these waivers are signed and on file in the office.
Medical LimitationsAll medical limitations must be noted upon registration with the studio. Failure to note such a condition is equal to assurance by the parent that such a condition does not exist.
